‡ In Plato’s Republic the guardians of the republic are likened to dogs: They love what they know and are repelled by what they do not know. It seems that there are too many guardians protecting the citadel of medicine. We live in a moment when collective experience is undermined – mitigated by a fortress of ideas and ideals, which limits what is conceivable in health and healing. That medicine should also dominate us is one of the greatest reversals of our time.
In the context of illness, medical systems, and marketing, all that is solid melts into air. To achieve ordinary wellness, a deeper basis is sought.
